The Board is responsible for three publications: The Michigan Daily, the Michiganensian yearbook, and the Gargoyle Humor Magazine.
An Open Letter to Our Donors

My name is Haley Goldberg, and I am a sophomore news reporter at The Michigan Daily who attended the Institute on Political Journalism’s conference “Journalism, Politics, & the Presidential Campaign of 2012.” Thanks to the Career Enhancement Fund at Student Publications, I was able to travel to Washington, D.C. on Nov. 4 and 5 with three of my Daily co-workers to learn about the field of journalism and the upcoming presidential election.

The Michigan Daily won first place for the best website of a college newspaper at a large school.
The award was given at the 27th annual ACP National College Journalism Convention Conference March 3-6 in Hollywood, California. Three Daily editors attended the event, which included workshops and talks by professional journalists. Managing Arts Editor Sharon Jacobs went to the conference and said one of the highlights of the weekend was winning the best website award.
Creating a Legacy
Posted: December 23, 2010One of the Daily’s brightest lights and sweetest souls, Tammy Jacobs Bell '73, died in July 2010 of cancer after fending it off ferociously for a lifetime. The Michigan Daily was always in her tremendous heart.
When Tammy was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her sophomore year at the University of Michigan, it was difficult for her parents to afford to come to Ann Arbor to help Tammy through this crisis.
Two New Scholarships Announced

A need-based scholarship established by former Michigan Daily business manager, Michael Hermanoff ’62 and his wife, Sandra in support of a Michigan Daily edit or business staff member in senior standing.

Michigan Daily Students win Lola and Morris Wasserstein Award
Posted: July 19, 2010LS&A Honors has announced this year's winners of the Morris and Lola Wasserstein Awards, which rewards students on the writing or editorial staff of The Michigan Daily.
The Wasserstein Awards are made possible by a generous gift from Mr. Bruce Wasserstein (Daily Editor in Chief ’67) to honor his father and mother. Investment banker Bruce Wasserstein (1947-2009) was an Honors graduate who had a great affection for the University of Michigan, the Honors Program, and The Michigan Daily.
Student Publications 4.2.0 Campaign
Posted: July 01, 2010Providing Great Learning Opportunities at the Michigan Daily, Ensian and Gargoyle. After the successful building renovation campaign, completed in October 2007, the Board for Student Publications has set its sights on implementing and enhancing already existing initiatives to help enrich the student experience. The students who occupy the 420 Maynard building today are working in an industry in flux. The Daily, Ensian and Gargoyle staffs are exploring new approaches to their work.
