Location:
Paul Brentlinger Conference Room

Currently a University of Michigan law professor, Barbara McQuade often appears on NBC News and MSNBC as a legal analyst. She was a sports editor at The Michigan Daily during her undergraduate years, and worked as a sports writer and copy editor before returning to law school here. In 2009, President Obama appointed McQuade to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan–the first woman to serve in her position.

Key cases during her tenure: conviction and life sentence of an al-Qaeda operative who attempted to blow up a plane over Detroit on Christmas (the ‘underwear bomber’); and the $4.3 billion criminal fine against Volkswagen Corp. for violating emissions standards.

Join us for our November Alumni Talk, and learn more about her fascinating career path!
